William S. Harris, AIA, LEED AP, Principal

Bill is the founding Principal and owner of Signer Harris Architects. He began practicing architecture in 1979, after receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Master in Architecture degree from Harvard.

Bill's focus on the mission and purpose behind his clients' design programs informs both the structure of the firm and the services it provides. He delights in devising creative design solutions that work aesthetically, functionally, and in support of larger institutional goals.

Bill has lectured on design at the New England Museum Association, and on firm management at the American Institute of Architects' national convention, and has been quoted in Architectural Record on creative approaches to fee structures. His design work has been published and has won several awards.

Bill has served his community as President of Temple Ohabei Shalom, New England's first Reform Jewish congregation, and lives with his wife Marcia and their two sons in Cambridge.

Sherwood A. Butler III, Associate

Sherwood joined Signer Harris Architects in 1996, having received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology. His ability to manage projects, and to collaborate successfully with both clients and contractors, has earned him a loyal following.

Since 2002 Sherwood has focused almost exclusively on the life sciences market, developing expertise in both scientific and regulatory areas. He has designed several lab and support spaces for research, from Animal Care Facilities to BL2+, and his insights on the challenges of these unique environments have been published in the New England Real Estate Journal.

Jeremy Dearborn, Senior Project Manager

Jeremy joined Signer Harris Architects in 2000, receiving both his Bachelor and Master of Architecture degrees from Norwich University. His remarkable sense of smart design and efficient planning has been applied to a broad range of project types – from research and office to residential and academic. This diverse expertise enables cross-industry application of best-of-class ideas, greatly benefiting our clients.

Matthew McGeorge, AIA, LEED AP, Senior Project Manager

Matthew brings nearly ten years of design, detailing, and Project Management expertise to Signer Harris Architects. His portfolio includes both renovations and new construction for clients in the commercial and institutional sectors. Active in a wide variety of professional areas – from guest lecturing and thesis critic to the AIA Committee on the Environment – Matthew complements the firm's reputation for mission-driven design and service, and its commitment to community.

Jeannie Pierce, Designer, Planner, and Biologist

Jeannie joined Signer Harris Architects in 2006, returning to an early passion for design after exploring a career in science. Following her degree in Biology from Clemson University, she spent six years in biotech research labs. The call to design, however, led her to enroll at the Boston Architectural College where she is pursuing a Master in Architecture degree. Her combined expertise brings a unique perspective to the design of labs and support spaces, ensuring they are both attractive and truly functional.
