Goals
- Create a private gallery to exhibit antique furniture, art, and memorabilia.
Challenges
- Work within existing space that included a 1970’s circular stair.
- Use the client’s existing inventory of columns, trim, and windows left over from his custom-built home.
- Use the client’s inventory of King George II pine paneled rooms, doors, moldings and frames imported from London.
Design Response
- Converted the 1970’s stair into a pavilion, a “tempietto”, using the client’s existing inventory of columns and trim.
- Created a private office and a private dining room, adapting the antique historic rooms and filling in with limited matching custom trim components.
- Used the historic doors and mouldings to frame views and link several components of the space.
