Goals

  • Rapidly design ongoing facility upgrades to address short term needs, while developing strategic design initiatives to enhance overall workflow and efficiency.
  • Develop ways to better integrate the shop floor and related office functions.

Challenges

  • Work concurrently on multiple sites.
  • Minimize construction costs and time, while maximizing impact.

Design Response

  • Generated quick analytical sketches to enable informed decision-making by management and floor leadership.
  • Applied utilitarian components to create innovative, flexible and organized utility distribution system.
  • Moved office cubicles to the shop floor level, separated by a transparent wall, improving communication, efficiency, and morale.
  • Designed multiple projects including: Manufacturing reconfigurations; bathroom renovations; office renovations; lunch room renovations; chemical storage rooms; mechanical systems rooms; parking and site lighting upgrades; shipping/receiving upgrades; material storage area upgrades; elevator addition and accessibility upgrades.
  • Provided support services including: Code analysis; phasing management; permit expediting; landlord coordination; furniture specification; equipment coordination; Wetlands Protection Act Determination of Applicability; life/safety studies.
